The survey of 502 employers by Accolade, a company that provides healthcare programs for employers, and research firm Savanta said 43% of the employers it polled could cover GLP-1 drugs in 2024 compared to 25% that cover them now.

Denmark should stop subsidizing the use of Ozempic and other so-called GLP-1 drugs for patients suffering from type 2 diabetes, and instead pay for cheaper drugs as a preferred first option, a public commission said in a recommendation issued on Tuesday.

The suit claims the companies “downplayed the severity of the gastrointestinal events caused by Ozempic and Mounjaro” and never warned patients about the possibility of gastroparesis—a slowdown or stopping of the digestive system—or gastroenteritis, an infection and inflammation of the digestive system.

The powerhouse of weight loss and type 2 diabetes drugs, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists have also shown the potential to treat nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease—and early research suggests they could treat addiction, too.

A thyroid cancer safety signal was raised by the EU’s drugs watchdog last month over several Novo Nordisk (NOVOb.CO) products including semaglutide, which is used in popular diabetes and obesity medicines Ozempic and Wegovy.
